As of June 1, API is launching a new contest for students: "We have rights, but how do we defend them?"

The Independent Press Association (API) is launching the national competition "We have rights, but how do we defend them?", intended for students in grades VII-XII from gymnasiums and high schools in the country, who will submit texts, images and video clips promoting human rights and fair and equally accessible justice for all citizens. The contest runs from June 1 to July 15, 2022 and has three categories: texts; images; clips.

  • texts (essays, poems);

  • images (photos, drawings, caricatures);

  • clips (including short videos of up to 2 minutes and/or animations).

 

The competition accepts creative works that explain why it is important that human rights are respected in our country, that there is fair justice to which all citizens have equal access, including those from vulnerable and minority groups, what the authorities should do and each of us to defend human rights and restore people's confidence in justice.

 

Conditions of participation

 

The competition can be attended by students of grades VII-XII from gymnasiums and high schools throughout the country, including from the Transnistrian region. The materials must be produced with one's own efforts, in Romanian, Russian or English. A participant can apply with only one work in each of the categories of the contest.

 

Submission of files

 

In order to participate in the competition, students will send their works to the email addresses: api@api.md and ion.mazur@api.md with the mention in the title of the message "Human rights and justice competition".

 

The paper will be accompanied by an informative note with the following mandatory information:

 

  • the title/name of the paper and a brief description of the meaning/message;

  • first and last name of the author;

  • town, educational institution, class/group;

  • a contact phone number and email address.

 

Deadline for submission of files: July 15, 2022, 6 p.m.

 

Evaluation of files

 

The works submitted to the competition will be evaluated by experts from API and outside the organization. The members of the jury will evaluate the works according to the following criteria:

 

  • correspondence to the announced theme;

  • expressiveness and originality of the work;

  • logical exposition of the message;

  • presentation ethics and copyright compliance.

 

Between July 20 and August 14, 2022, the works accepted in the competition will be displayed on a special web page www.concurs.api.md, and visitors to the page will be able to vote for their favorite work/works.

 

Awarding the winners

 

The totalization of the contest results and the awarding of the winners will take place in August 2022.

 

The authors of the two best works from each category of the contest, as well as the public's favorite (voting on the web page) in each category, will be awarded with valuable gifts.

The competition is carried out within the Campaign for a Healthy Justice, implemented by the Independent Press Association (API), in partnership with a group of specialized non-governmental organizations from the Republic of Moldova.
